A String of Bad Luck Repurposed
Max is a young trans woman. She was actually a rather short person when she was younger, and while as a boy that could be seen as a weakness, it got turned around to become oddly gender affirming, due to the fact that she now was at a similar size to the other girl au ras. Max has always been like this, trying to find the best thing out of a bad situation, and trying to find way to flip a bad situation into a good one.
Ironically, it was a situation like that that she ended up meeting and becoming best friends with Veronica. While she was visiting Gridania, she attended a woodworking workshop that was... less than an ideal experience for her. She put a weight hanging off the table, on a board she was supposed to cut, and once she did, the weight fell down, launching the plank and hitting a passing Veronica square in the face. After many apologies, and an invite for a drink to make up for it, an amazing friendship was born.

While she may not look the part, due to her pretty clothes that she would rather not soil nor tear, she is quite capable of defending herself on the fly. Since part of her training with her family involved the wielding of weapons, she can pick up anything, find a relation to a weapon she knows how to handle, and then make a world of pain.
Change
Cinder, Cinder and Veronica were once asked
"If you could remake the world where a concept would be the most important, which would it be?"
Max chose "Change". In a world where change can become a target for persecution, it would be best to make it so people can change at will. If people could change genders, forms and races just as easily one can change clothes or hair, the trivialization would make people not care for it. And while there is the product known as "Fantasia", it's difficulty of synthesis, and as result it's rarity and price make such changes possible, but expensive, and she want to get rid of the price tag. And "Change" doesn't need to be restricted to a person's appearance, for embracing change also means accepting new techniques and technologies for anything, in the name of the betterment of people's lifes.
